Today is the 100th day of the year. Awesome! Isn’t it amazing that it seems like only yesterday the year begun and we have already amassed 100 days in 2019? In some political circles, the first one hundred days of an administration is a time to review and celebrate the achievements and accomplishments of the new regime.
Taking a cue from the foregoing, this is a time to pause and praise.
Pause to think about the goodness of our great God in the year so far. Praise Him for His goodness and mercies. It is a day to reflect on how faithful He has been so far despite our shortcomings, failures, and faithlessness.
Secondly, it is also a time of sober reflection on the year so far. It is a great time to consider these first 100 days of the year. What have you done? What have you achieved? What milestones have been reached so far? What were you meant to do this year that you have not yet done? If you have done very well with your goals so far, here is a big congratulations from me. However, if you haven’t done so well, you still got sufficient time to make up for your goals and even surpass them. What hindered you or delayed you from getting them done?
Having identified these things, the next thing to do is to come up with creative ways to overcome the challenges going forward. Think up solutions to the pitfalls you faced in the course of the year. Draw a timeline and a goal for the next one hundred days of the year. What do you need to start doing now to become better and more successful in the next one hundred days? What do you need to stop doing now to avoid falling prey of the pitfalls that held you back so far? Think about what to start or stop doing now that come 18th July, which is another 100 days from now, you would have achieved far more milestones than you have done now. As you do this, I can assure you that you would have a more successful year than you’ve had so far or imagined to have.
Divide the year into three blocks of a hundred days each and one block of sixty-five days. The first block of 100 days has already elapsed, and there is nothing you can do about that now. You still have two blocks of a hundred days each, as well as a block of sixty-five days left. Re-set your goals and targets for the year. Seek to achieve them within the remaining two blocks of one hundred days. The first block elapses on July 18th and the second on 26th October. Put yourself in the zone to achieve all you want to within these next two blocks of time (ending 26th October). If you follow this timeline strictly, you would either have accomplished your goals within this time and have the remaining days of the year to ‘lounge,’ or the final sixty-five days would just become ‘extra time’ to get them done.
You’ve got the power. Get going.
